The human body will have growth hormone (GH) secreted at all times. However, it is more in the younger people’s bodies than it is in the older ones. As more GH is found in your body, so the insulin-like factor called the IGF-1. This is the same case for many peptides which happen to be present in the GH.
What is IGF-1 and its importance for bodybuilders?
The growth factor (IGF-1) is an endocrine hormone in the peptides family and which happens to be produced in the liver. Whenever the IGF-1 is produced in the liver, the bodybuilder’s body gets more of the GH. A majority of the cells in the human body are such that they positively receive the factor’s signal. This makes it ideal for a bodybuilder’s body since they are known to trigger cell and tissue growth and repair.
The various reasons why you should use the IGF-1
Unlike many bodybuilding supplements which were popular in previous years, the use of peptides, especially the IGF-1 (including all its variants) do not involve the elimination of water. This means then that the muscle gain which you enjoy when using them is not short term but long-lasting.
When you are using steroids and some of other supplements, your body will be go through a hypertrophy phase. This means that your cells rather than getting aligned appropriately, they increase in mass and size. The opposite of this is hyperplasia; which is what this IGF-1 peptides-family compound does.

The various variants
There are basically two variants of the IGF-1 peptides; the DES IGF-1 and the IGF-1 LR3. The base IGF-1 has a very short half-life of 10-20 minutes. This makes it susceptible to destruction by the body very fast which then means that it fails to achieve the desired results. The ineffectiveness of the base GF-1 led to the modification and the rise of the long analog IGF-1 LR3. As for the DES IGF-1, it has been modified such that it has more than 10 times potency than the base factor.
It is important to note that Growth Hormone (GH) on its own does not directly cause muscle growth. It however, it indirectly causes the same when it triggers the release of IGF-1. The fact that HGH is very expensive gives rise to the use of this relatively peptides.
